Labor Day Carnival

Thank you to all who joined us in celebrating the pavilion grand opening.  There was a record attendance - owners who may not have been able to join in on past events made their debut for the Labor Day Carnival.  It truly was an epic success and fun for all ages.  We look forward to many good times and more features to be added to enhance the already stunning structure.   The slide show containing photos from conception of the lake to today was impressive.  The band was a huge it.  Thank you to all vendors who provided raffle prizes!  The food truck vendors said this was the best crowd they have catered to!  All hands were on deck for sure.

Octoberfest Comes to McLendon Hills!

Thanks to all who participated in the Oktoberfest Progressive Dinner on October 20th. We worked hard to plan a fun evening for you. The evening started off with German beer and wine tastings along with German-inspired appetizers at the Johnston's Party Barn. Then we separated to enjoy a German-inspired dinner at seven different homes. After dinner was finished we will all met together again for German desserts at the Seitz home.

Ideal Living Retirement Show

Pictured below - Our Sales Team in Parsippany, NJ promoting McLendon Hills at the Ideal Living Retirement Show.  We had several tours booked for October and November as a result of attending this show.  While there, we took new property owners to dinner, it was a great time!  Look for us Chicago January 19-20, Philidelphia January 26-27, and Parsipanny, NJ February 9-10.

“Marty and I wanted to say thank you so much for dinner on Saturday night.  Was a great place, but the company was the hit of the night.  It was great to spend part of the afternoon at the show cheering on McLendon Hills and then spending time with the three of you afterwards. Hope the show was good on Sunday.  We will stay in touch to talk about house plans!”

"We discovered McLendon Hills by accident.  We decided to drive through just for the heck of it, and  fell in love with it immediately.  We found a spec home, stopped, walked around it, looked through the windows, and the rest is history. We love the neighborhood and we’ve made many friends.  There are so many different activities and social events here.  Of all the neighborhoods we’ve lived in (and there were many) this is by far the best.  We chose well in retiring in McLendon Hills!" - Thom and Dot G.

Carl’s horse Yarik just keeps on winning – even without “Cowboy Carl” as the rider.  As you can see from the photo, Yarik has racked up an impressive 23 wins and 2 second place showings in 26 events in dressage competitions this year.  He won in the Open Division in Pinehurst recently and is currently ranked 1st in the state with one more competition to go.  Congratulations to both Carl and especially Yarik (who has done most of the work).

Yacht Club
Fall is here but that is no reason to put up the kayaks or stop taking the grandkids to the lake.  Typically there are many Fall days that are perfect for enjoying the lake.  The best time of day is morning or late afternoon/early evening.

Garden Club
While the threat of uncooperative weather postponement of the Garden Club’s September 13th guided visit to the Sandhills horticultural gardens, we look forward to gathering at the home of Frank and Jane where we will be introduced to McLendon Hills Mushrooms. We welcome all those interested in joining us at 1:00 pm on the second Thursday of the month to explore the natural world.

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch is going strong!  We have 27 active members and usually have at least 18-22 attendees every month.  This past quarter we have dined at Kickback Jack’s (hosted by Avis), Theo’s (hosted by Kaye), and the Market Place (hosted by Danette).  All very different and all well attended.  We are looking forward to the last three months of the year . . . It’s always a good time!

Lunch Bunch is open to all ladies of McLendon Hills.

The Lake & Wildlife Committee has recently constructed a second kayak rack located at the Amenities Center.  Property Owners have the option to use either the racks at the Amenities Center or continue to use the racks at the Point.

Night and Day Time Bunco
2018 continues with fun at every throw of the dice.  In July we had a Beach Party Bunco night at Rachel’s house.  August was not a lucky month for Karen,  as you can see in the picture.  She not only “won” Felicia, but she also “won” Lilipad in the same month.  To date this is a first.  But aren’t they cute!  Nighttime Bunco currently has a full roster of 12 regular players, but if you would like to be added to our substitute player list for 2018, please contact Karen.

The second Bunco group headed by Danette  is playing on the second Tuesday of each month at 2pm.  They are still in need of regular players so if you would like to join this group, please contact Danette.
